What is Heber Valley Ballet?
Heber Valley Ballet is the nonprofit youth performing company of Primary Ballet Academy in Heber, Utah. It provides a higher level of training, more performance experiences, and greater artistic development, while enriching the broader community.
When did the company start?
The 2026–2027 season is the company’s inaugural year.
Who can join?
The company is open to dancers ages 12 and up who are training on pointe and who show a strong level of technical ability and commitment.
How do dancers join?
Dancers join by audition or by director placement. Email info@primaryballet.com to ask about company requirements and opportunities.
What do company members do?
Members rehearse outside regular class time, work with guest choreographers, and perform at community events and a late-winter Repertory show. They are considered for principal and solo roles in story ballets such as The Nutcracker and the spring production.
The company also offers a goal-setting program with regular one-on-one director meetings, exposure to contemporary ballet, and mentorship for dancers considering college or professional dance. Senior Company members may join an optional ensemble at ballet competitions.
What is on the 2026–2027 season?
The Nutcracker (tentatively December 12, 2026), a Repertory show in February 2027, and Cinderella in spring 2027. See the season page for details.
Can younger dancers be in The Nutcracker?
Yes. Nutcracker casting is open to dancers ages 6 and up. It is an optional add-on that requires an audition and extra rehearsals, with additional rehearsal and performance fees.
Is there a costume fee for Cinderella?
Heber Valley Ballet company members pay no performance or costume fee for Cinderella. Other Primary Ballet students pay a performance and costume fee listed on primaryballet.com/info.
How does Heber Valley Ballet relate to Primary Ballet Academy?
Heber Valley Ballet is Primary Ballet Academy’s performing company. Classes, registration, and tuition are handled through primaryballet.com. The academy is directed by Erin Malan.
